Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab, former Justice Ejaz Nisar has directed that pace of work on the under-construction Thokkar Niaz Beg flyover be accelerated so that transport problems of people could be resolved. He issued these instructions during inspection of under-construction Thokkar Niaz Beg flyover, on Monday.
Provincial Minister for Communication & Works and Information Technology Mubashar Lucman, Director General Lahore Development Authority, Arif Khan, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Yousaf Naseem Khokhar, Capital City Police Officer and Additional Inspector General Police Malik Mohammad Iqbal, Chief Engineer Highways (North), Chaudhry Mohammad Arif and Chief Engineer District Support and Monitoring Khuda Yar were also present on the occasion.
Nisar said that the flyover project costing Rs 1.5 billion will streamline the flow of traffic besides leave a positive impact on the overall economy of the provincial metropolis and the surrounding areas. He said that better means of communication help promote economic activities and provide relief to the masses, hence ongoing projects of infrastructure development should be completed within stipulated period.
He said that construction of underpasses and flyovers has strengthened the process of provision of civic amenities to the citizens. He said that construction of Thokar Niaz Beg flyover would improve the overall flow of traffic in Lahore and provide relief to the citizens.
He directed secretary C&W and chief engineer to undertake regular inspection of the project so that it could be completed at the earliest. He appreciated the efforts for improvement of traffic management under the new traffic system in the city and directed CCPO to further intensify efforts in this regard as well as ensure strict implementation of traffic laws.
He said that alternate routes around ongoing development projects be also improved so that people should not face any problem. He said that special attention be paid to the widening as well as repair and construction of roads in view of increasing load of traffic.
