The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) has announced holding of 'Business Plan Competition' amongst students of the universities, colleges and schools in the province. The purpose of the initiative is to explore and bridge gap between academia and industry for providing networking opportunities for students.
It would also promote innovative business ideas amongst potential entrepreneurs in order to motivate and facilitate them in establishing their own business. Smeda in this regard had already dispatched letters to all the universities and prominent business schools of the province. The students are encouraged to submit their names along with their proposal, briefly explaining their plans through their representative institution.
The competition will encourage participants to take an idea from the concept phase to a full business plan. Smeda through its already established Entrepreneurship Development Center will decide a panel to scrutinise the business plans and the top three positions will be awarded prizes. This activity aims to maximise awareness and disseminate entrepreneurship-related education among the people. The universities are encouraged to enroll two entries of their participating students before end of December 2007. After which the time frame for preparation of the plans will be communicated to the candidates.
