The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) hunger strike camp continued for the fourth day against the emergency and the Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO) in the bar premises. President bar Ahsan Bhoon, Vice President Firdoos Butt, Secretary Bar Sarfraz Cheema and senior bar members sat in the camp.
Members of civil society and human rights activists also joined them. President bar appreciated the people who joined them in their struggle for independence of judiciary and rule of law in the country.
He told the bar members gathered there in camp that lawyers would continue struggling unless and until the government refused to reinstate the judges refusing to take oath under the PCO.
He said lawyers never accepted the judges of higher courts who had taken oath under PCO and added that they would not appear before them unless government reinstates Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and others. He praised the decision of the All Pakistan Democratic Movement (APDM) announced to boycott the elections.
He said the bar members and their representatives who had submitted their nomination papers would withdraw before withdrawal date. He urged the bar members to keep unity among their ranks to continue their struggle.
