The Third Karachi International Book Fair (KIBF) commenced here at the Expo Centre on Friday. The five-day event is being organised by the Pakistan Publishers and Booksellers Association (PPBA) in collaboration with the National Book Foundation, government of Pakistan and Event and conference International.
According to organisers, the prominent publishers and booksellers from all over the country are attending the fair. They said that publishers and booksellers from Germany, Singapore, Hong Kong, Egypt, India and Greece are also attending.
A former Speaker of Sindh Assembly, Abdullah Hussain Haroon and the German Consul General in Karachi, were the guest of honours at the inaugural ceremony of the KIBF. It was pointed out that the very purpose of such events is to help promote the acquisition of knowledge as well as the reading habits especially among the youngsters and the students.
