CAIRO: Egypt has procured just over 110,000 tonnes of wheat from farmers since the start of its local harvest earlier this month, the supply ministry said on Thursday.
That figure compares to about 129,000 tonnes during the same period last year, the statement said.
Egypt's supply minister said this week he expects to buy about 3.8 million tonnes from local farmers during the harvest, which runs through July.
