Former National Assembly (NA) speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain has stressed the all political parties should participate in the upcoming general elections and avoid to boycott them.
Talking to Business Recorder here on Monday afternoon, he said there is no justification of polls boycott because President Musharraf had doffed the uniform and now is serving the nation as a civilian President.
He was of the view that some political parties are trying to sabotage the smooth election process and jingle it through boycott. It is national and political obligation of political parties that should participate in the election for further strengthening the democracy and democratic institutions in the country, he said. It is vivid fact that some political parties had become frustrated due to the popularity of Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) and they are trying to escape from the elections, he said.
Chaudhry Amir Hussain also said that PML-Q had emerged as a strong political party which struck deep roots among the masses in every nook and corner of the country. The PML-Q during its tenure of five-year had served the masses with a missionary zeal and commitment as a result of which country has been put on the development and prosperity as a result of which the common man heaved a sigh of relief and nobody would able to hoodwink the masses with glittering slogans, he added.
He foresees that masses had become more politically conscious and would neither support any move of boycott of the election nor would they allow any political party to play with national interests. The caretaker government was making strenuous efforts to maintain congenial political environment and avoid the politics of confrontation in the larger national interests, he said.
Chaudhry Amir Hussain expressed hope that the PML-Q would sweep in the forthcoming elections on the basis its services rendered in last five past years for the betterment of the common man and the development of the country.
