World Volunteers Day will be observed by all countries as well as Pakistan on December 5, with functions to be held at various venues countrywide. In this connection National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) and community development department have jointly organised a function in Jinnah Library Hall on Wednesday.
District nazim Ahmed Yar Haraj will be chief guest while DCO Rao Shakil Ahmed will be the guest of honour on the occasion. Volunteers of the district will be awarded certificates in recognition of their services to humanity.
"Voluntarism is a virtue encouraged in Islam, and there is need to promote this idea in our society so that under-privileged people may be helped and looked after, without thought of any worldly gain," said Muhammad Iqbal, a volunteer working with a local welfare society.
