Sindh Caretaker Home Minister Brigadier Akhtar Zamin (Retd) has said that a new model traffic system has been conceived and it would be approved during the caretaker government tenure. Addressing the members of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (Kati) on Tuesday.
He said the people will feel a vast improvement in traffic system with the implementation of new traffic model system. Akhtar Zamin said the traffic system needs a drastic change to improve traffic flow and traffic management, adding the most important and top priority of the caretaker government is to hold free and fair elections. He said that efforts are under way to provide conformable environment for completing election process.
He assured that the government would facilitate every party to hold elections processions and meeting in the province. Election processions and meeting should be held within the ambit of Election Commission rules and regulations, he added.
Replying a question about encroachments, he said no encroachment could take place without police officials or some influentially persons on the back of encroachers. He said that the caretaker government is only for 45 days and it can not take long-term decisions.
Referring to growing street crimes, mobile phones and car-snatching, he said that it is a challenge for police officials and advised them to act fast to handle the situation.
Speaking on the occasion, S.M.Munir said that during last four to six months incidents of mobile phones and car-snatching increased considerable. Shaikh Manzar Alam said that Korangi industrial area come under the jurisdiction of four police stations and demanded that it should be in the jurisdiction of one police station. It is a long pending demand of Korangi industrialists, he added. Kati Chairman Masood Naqi drew the attention of the minister towards encroachments in Korangi industrial area and demanded its removal.
