Capital City Police Officer Additional, IG Malik Muhammad Iqbal has said that criminals involved in kidnapping for ransom deserve no leniency and his force will spare no effort for smashing such gangs. "Special teams have been constituted comprising seasoned officers and officials for curbing the incidents of kidnapping for ransom," he added.
In his speech at a prize distribution ceremony held in Harbanspura on the eve of recovering an abductee from the kidnappers, he said his force performed its duties with dedication and used all professional abilities to recover Ahmad Munir, a 12-year-old boy.
He said his force was taking full advantage of latest technology and a modern lab has also been established to trace the criminals involved in heinous crime especially in kidnapping for ransom incidents. He added that Lahore police performance remained excellent in tracing the cases of kidnapping for ransom as police not only arrested the kidnappers but also recovered the abductees safely and ransom money from their possession.
Iqbal said such cases are also been sent to the courts on top priority basis so that captors could be awarded stringent punishments. Earlier, the father of the abductee, Munir Ahmad highly appreciated the professional skills of Lahore police and announced rupees two lakh as cash prize for the police team.
It may be mentioned that Ahmad Munir was kidnapped when he was on his way to school and the kidnappers were demanding Rs 30 million ransom for his release. He then distributed cash prizes and commendatory certificates among investigation team members including Inspector Muhammad Nawaz, Inspector Ishtiaq Hussain Khan, SI Amir Ali, ASI Muhammad Iqbal, ASI Nazir Ahmad, ASI Muhammad Iqbal, HC Muhammad Farooq, HC Abid Hussain, HC Zia Ullah, HC Taj Ali and constable Sher Afgan, Zafar Iqbal, Atta Muhammad, Ghulam Murtaza, Zahid Ali, Zahir Ahmad, Azad Kan and Sajid.
He also gave away shields to SP CIA Chaudhry Masood Aziz and DSP CIA City Amjad Mehmood Qureshi. DIG Investigation Tassaduq Hussain, SP Investigation Cantt Division Babar Bakhat Qrueshi and SP Mughalpura Sajad Hussain Manj were also present.
