The Pakistani army apart from its duty, as custodian of national defence, has contributed immensely for the delivery of quality education and health facilities through out the country. Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool expressed his views while addressing a high achievers award ceremony at Garrison Academy for Boys here on Thursday.
Patron of LGES Lieutenant General Shafaat Ullah Shah and General Officer Commanding Major General Shaukat Sultan Khan were also present. Emphasising the importance of high educational standards he said economic and social developments could not be achieved without according top priority towards improving our academic standards.
He said the Lahore Garrison Education System were providing quality education to children of both army and civilian families in a cost effective way. He added, "results achieved by students of Lahore Garrison Education Institutions is a clear manifestation of the high teaching standards being maintained by its administration."
He complimented the faculty and administration for their dedication and hard work. Earlier, in his welcome address, Lahore Garrison Education Institutions Chairman Nazakat Ali Khan said LGES comprise of 10 educational institutions in Lahore, Mehfooz Shaheed Garrison and Chunian, where 15,000 students belonging to both civil families and defence paid personnel are enrolled. Later the Governor Punjab awarded prizes to students attaining distinctions in Matric, '0' level, Intermediate, 'A' level, Bachelors and Masters examinations of 2006-07 session.
The prize winners, included Madiha Younus of Army Public School Azam Garrison, Yasir Rasheed Garrison Boys High School, Syed Salman Hussain APS Mehfooz Shaheed Garrison, Zain ul Abideen APS Chunian Garrison, Suneeba Javed Garrison Academy for Girls, Samina Butt APS Mehfooz Shaheed Garrison, Harees Bin Tariq Garrison Academy for Boys, Nuha Khan Garrison Academy for Girls, Sana Shaukat, Areej Dawood, Muneeza Pervaiz, Bushra Mehboob, Sarah Rahil of Garrison Post Graduate College for Women and Saad Nasir, Syed Abrar Hussain and Nauman Javed from Garrison Degree College for Boys.
