Caretaker Prime Minister Mohammedmian Soomro said that reconstruction work on Dargah Sehwan Sharif must be completed at the earliest with a view to facilitate maximum number of Zaireen visiting the Shrine throughout the year.
The Prime Minister said this while chairing a meeting to review the progress on the re-development of Dargah Sehwan Sharif Project, here at the Prime Minister's Secretariat Thursday.
The Prime Minister also directed to ensure the cleanliness, proper provision of water facilities, improvement in the drainage system, concealment of electric wiring and treatment of the roof ceiling. He said that besides completion of project on time the management must also ensure cost effectiveness of the project without compromising on the quality.
The Prime Minister said that in order to ensure proper maintenance of the project the appointme nt of a full time project director should be made at the earliest so as to streamline the reconstruction work and to ensure its timely completion.
He also appreciated the Senate committee on housing and works for their active support in monitoring the project and their findings which have helped a lot in rectifying the bottlenecks.
Earlier the Prime Minister was briefed about the progress on different phases of the projects and the meeting was told that the phase-I has almost been completed while Phase-II is 90 percent completed. The meeting was further informed that punch lists of phase-I has almost been rectified while the remaining are being taken care off. The punch lists was prepared by the stakeholders constituted by the Senate Standing Committee which is looking after the project.
The meeting was informed that the reconstruction of the entire Shrine Complex was first conceived in 1994. The project had four phases, including the construction of the Main Shrine, construction of Dhamal Court, construction of Langarkhana, Sarai, Public Toilets, Construction of Golden Gate, Portal, Main Entrance, Museum, Crafts Centre, Auditorium, Shops and Offices.
