The LPG Distributors Association Pakistan has rejected any shutter-down strike in the country, and all distributors would continue their trading on December 17, Abdul Hadi Khan, chairman of the association said.
Talking to Business Recorder on Friday, he said that a certain 'mafia' in the LPG distribution sector had again become active in time of serious crisis that had engulfed the country to take undue advantage through black-marketing and hoarding of liquefied gas.
He said that some people for their vested interest had created a wrong perception about LPG distributors, and alleged that they were involved in black marketing and hoarding of LPG. He said that the country's all taxpayer LPG distributors were united on a single platform on all issues and the call for shutter-down strike on December 17 was not from it. He added that the association would foil any attempt against the interests of the country by any individual or a fake association.
Hadi said that a letter from the association to all LPG producers had been dispatched for bringing down the commodity prices to Rs 25,000 per ton level. He lauded JJVL for 10 percent cut in LPG prices, hoping that all other producers would follow it.
The withdrawal of increase in LPG prices by Parco was the result of the struggle of LPG distributors, he said and expressed hope that reduction in LPG prices was a positive step, which would help the public in consuming the commodity at affordable prices.
