Irrigation department announces canal closure schedule

The Punjab Irrigation and Power Department has issued an annual schedule of canal closure across the province for 2007-8. The Lower Jhelum and the Rasool Qadirabad Link Canals will close betweeen December 20 and January 12, the Qadirabad Balloki Link Canal between December 27 and January 13, the Lower Bari Doaab and the Balloki Sulemanki Canals between December 29 and January 15.
The Upper Pakpattan and Eastern Sadiqia canals between December 30 and January 16, the Upper Jhelum Canal from 12 January and 29, the Lower Chenab Canal between 13 January and 30, the Jhang Branch Canal between December 27 and January 13, the Upper Bahawal and Thal Canals between 13 January and 30, the Upper Chenab and Central Bari Doab Canals between December 27 and January 13, the Trimmu and the Trimmu Sidhnai Link Canals between January 7 and February 10, the SMB link Canals between January 8 and February 11, the Lower Pakpattan Canal between January 9 and February 12, the Lower Bahawal Canal between January 10 and February 13, the Panjnad Canals between January 14 and 31 and the Tounsa Canals between December 31 and January 16.
