The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has finalised necessary arrangements for setting up polling stations and polling booths for upcoming general elections in Sialkot district. Election Commission sources told Business Recorder here on Tuesday.
Sources said as many as 1,312 polling stations of which 652 combined, 328 female and 332 male polling stations would be established in Sialkot, Daska, Pasrur and Sambrial tehsils of the district. They added a total of 3,271 polling booths out of which 1,801 male and 1,470 females polling booths would be set up in all four tehsils of the district.
The constituency-wise the number of polling stations and polling booths are as following; in NA-110, 34 combined, 95 female and 98 male total (227), NA-111, 147 combined, 51 female, 51 female (total 249) NA-112, 157 combined, 60 female, 61 male (total 278), NA-IV, 142 combined, 62 female, 62 male total- (266), NA-V, 172 combined, 60 female, 60 male (total 292) would be established during the election, sources said.
Similarly, 984 male and 328 female presiding officers and 3,602 male assistant and 2,940 female assistant presiding officers as well as 3,271 polling officers out which 1,470 female polling officers would be deputed on polling stations during the election in Sialkot, Daska, Pasrur and Sambrial tehsils of the district, they added.
Furthermore, they said that the total registered voters' are 1,475,270 of which 667,241 are female voters in Sialkot district. It may be mentioned that in 2002 general elections the total registered voters were 1,555,910 out of which 739,372 were female in the district which, indicates 80,640 votes are less as compare to current registered voters.
