Sustaining the decision of returning officer about rejection of nomination of Pakistan Peoples Party candidate Saeed Ghani, The Appellate Tribunal in Sindh High Court dismissed appeal of Ghani.
The tribunal comprising Justice Khawaja Naveed Ahmed and Justice Qazi Z. Khalid after hearing the arguments on Tuesday rejected plea of the PPP candidate to grant him permission to contest in the coming elections. Saeed Ghani, who was a candidate from the constituency of NA-251 Karachi South, had filed the appeal through Farooq H. Nayak against rejection of his papers.
Former Sindh Minister Waseem Akhtar, from Muttahida Qaumi Movement, candidate from the constituency of NA-251, raised objection on his papers saying that Ghani is an incumbent Nazim of UC-4 Chanesar Goth and any one holding any public office cannot not contest the elections under rules and regulations, therefore, his papers should be rejected.
The same tribunal adjourned the hearing of appeal to December 12 of Shujaat A. Shah who raised objection on the nomination papers of Dr Fehmida Mirza, contesting from NA-225 Badin, accusing her to be a defaulter of a bank. Both the tribunals heard one dozen applications on Tuesday challenging the decisions of returning officers regarding acceptance and rejection of nomination papers.
