Pakistan People's Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League(Q) and Pakistan Muslim League(N) have nominated their candidates for two national assembly and four provincial assembly seats of district Jhelum. Former federal minister Chaudhry Shahbaz Hussain of PML(Q) is contesting for both national assembly seats of Jhelum NA-62 and NA-63.
PPP has nominated Chaudhry Sohail Zafar for NA-62 and Raja Aliuz Zaman Janjua for NA-63. PML(N) has fielded Raja Muhammad Safdar Khan for NA-62 and former MNA Raja Muhammad Asad Khan for NA-63. For provincial assembly seats PP-24, main candidates in the fray are Dr Abdul Qayyum PML(Q) and Hassan Ahmed Bukhari (PPP).
An intense competition is expected among Chaudhry Qurban Hussain PML (Q), Chaudhry Saeed Ahmed (PPP) and Mehr Muhammad Fayyaz of PML(Q) for provincial assembly seat PP-25. Abdul Qadoos Khan PML(Q), Pervaiz Akhtar Minhas (PPP) and Chaudhry Nadeem Khadim PML(N) will vie for PP-26. Former MPA Chaudhry Nazar Hussain Gondal PML(Q), Major (r) Faiz Ahmed Faizi (PPP) and Nawabzada Syed Shams Haider PML(N) will be facing each other in a three way contest in PP-27.
