Provincial Ombudsman Abdur Rashid Khan has ordered the National Housing Authority to pay Rs 166,474 to a contractor who had built the Zakat Houses in 1991. The Ombudsman's order came following a complaint by Yaqoob Ali Bajwa who argued that he received a contract to construct the houses under the "Shelter for Shelterless Programme" in 1991.
He executed the work in respect of six quarters and his three bills came to Rs 177, 100 which he received in the form of a cheque in the office of former deputy commissioner. He said he had demanded further funds from the National Highway Authority but he did not receive yet.
