US cocoa futures slipped in early trade on Tuesday after fund buying pushed prices to a 4-1/2-month high, while arabica coffee continued north to touch a 2-month high, traders said. On the screen, ICE key March cocoa fell $2 to $2,099 per tonne at 9:09 am EST (1409 GMT), trading from $2,095 to $2,122 which was a high dating back to July 25 for the second month.
The rest were $1 to $7 lower. Arabica coffee saw follow-through strength from Monday, when fund buying boosted the benchmark contract to near two-month high, dealers said. In electronic dealings, ICE March coffee was up 0.75 cent at $1.3425 at 9:07 am, in dealings from $1.3325 to $1.3490, which marked a high last seen October 15. The rest ranged 0.65 to 1.35 cents higher.
