Director General Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab Brigadier Muhammad Aslam Ghumman (Retd) has ordered to arrest SHO Police Station Kharian Raja Muhammad Younis and 15 other police officials for holding six persons, including two police officials without any justification.
They were kept in an illegal detaintion, seized Rs 225,000, which was recovered during body search and released them after taking Rs 79,000 as gratification. He has also directed to initiate departmental enquiry against DSP Kharian Raja Zafar Iqbal and Sub-Inspector Muhammad Akram Gondal.
According to details, Faisal Shahzad and Muhammad Saghir, two police officials of tehsil Kharian, lodged an application to DG ACE that they alongwith four other persons namely Khurram, Adnan, Nadeem Akhtar and Tabassum Ali were going to attend Mehndi ceremony of their relatives and stayed at poultry farm of their common friend Iqbal Ahmad located at the area of Police Station Gulyana.
About 15 police officials under the supervision of SHO PS Kharian Raja Muhammad Younis attacked them, while they were relaxing at poultry farm and tortured them badly without any reason.
They accused SHO of beating them ruthlessly with batons, despite informing him that they were also from the same profession. The attacking party took into custody Rs 110,000 from the owner of poultry farm, Rs 17,000, 500 Euro, 300 Derham, cell phones, ID cards, departmental cards and other important items in the name of body search while it took away search light of poultry farm amounting to Rs 5,000 at the time of leaving the place.
They were made to take off their shirts and bound their arms with ropes. The applicants alleged that they were kept in illegal detention at lock-up of PS Kharian and tortured badly.
Ex-Naib Nazim Tehsil Kharian Haji Zafar rescued them after giving them Rs 79,000 as gratification but the amount and items taken into custody in the name of body search. DSP Raja Zafar Iqbal has not taken action against misuse of powers by SHO PS Kharian, adding that they are receiving threats of dire consequences from him.
Aslam Ghumman constituted a team of enquiry officers and directed a detailed enquiry in this regard. All the allegations levelled against police officials proved true during investigation process and DG ACE ordered to register a case and arrest SHO PS Kharian Raja Muhammad Younis and officials involved in misusing of powers and also directed to initiate department enquiry against DSP Kharian Raja Zafar Iqbal and Sub-Inspector Muhammad Akram Gondal. Circle Officer ACE Headquarter has registered a case in the light of directions of DG ACE.
