The Karachiites on Friday once again witnessed prolonged load-shedding due to the closure of KESC's two power generating units at Bin Qasim Power Plant for annual maintenance.
Sources said that the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) was facing a shortage of 90-120 MW electricity mainly caused by the closure of its two 170 and 175 MW units at Bin Qasim which are under annul maintenance. The failure of KESC in completing the maintenance work on time has added to the sufferings of the people.
Several areas of the city including Hassan Square, Liaquatabad, North Karachi, Landhi, Korangi, Agrataj, Gulshan Iqbal, Gulistan e Jauhar, Sohrab Goth, Lyari, Nazimabad, Saddar, I I Chundrigar Road, North Karachi, Nagan Chowrangi, Nazimabad, FB Area suffered prolonged power breakdowns due to the never ending maintenance work. Consumers of the affected areas told Business Recorder that for the last several days they had been subjected to prolonged load-shedding and despite several complaints the KESC was not paying any heed to their problem.
