Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister former justice Abdul Qadir Halepota has reiterated his commitment to holding fair, free and transparent elections in the province. Halepota was speaking at a reception hosted by Senator Mohammed Amin Dadabhoy in his honour on Friday to facilitate him on his assumption of the office of the caretaker chief minister of Sindh.
The chief minister said his function as a caretaker was defined. He would ensure peaceful holding of elections where large number of voters turn up and exercise their right to vote and choose their representatives.
He said that proper arrangements have been made to hold clear, rather transparent elections that would be open for inspection. He appealed voters to come to polling stations in large numbers and assert their will. "Do not consider polling day as a day to relax and spend it as a godsend holiday."
He said that the country has achieved economic progress and it should continue in the same manner. He appreciated the efforts of the business community and asked them to continue their efforts toward the wellbeing of the country.
Politicians, cabinet colleagues of Halepota, diplomats, officers from the armed forces and civil servants, members of the business community and elite of the city attended the reception.
