Lauding Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) for according approval to 50 Pakistani exhibitors to showcase their products in the upcoming South Asian Countries Commodities Fair here.
Former President of FPCCI Tariq Sayeed has emphasised the need for maximum number of participation of Pakistani exhibitors in various exhibitions to narrow the trade gap in favour of China.
"There is immense potential for export of a number of Pakistani items, particularly the surgical goods, fish, leather, textile, fresh fruits, etc and their export can help in bridging the trade gape", Tariq Sayeed who is also Patron-in-Chief of Pak-China Business Forum told APP in an interview from Shanghai before leaving for Pakistan on Friday.
The MOFCOM, Chinese Ministry of Commerce is holding the South Asian Countries Commodity Fair here between December 28 to 30 in a bid to remove the trade imbalance for which the Chinese side attaches great importance by enlarging import from South Asian countries.
The organiser of the exhibition has planned to provide a number of incentives in order to attract large number of exhibitors. The Pakistan Embassy is also making elaborate arrangements to provide all kind of assistance to the exhibitors coming from Pakistan for participation in the exposition.
Tariq Sayeed pointed out that during his stay in China he met with a number of important officials and traders and they all were supportive to enlarge import from Pakistan. He said that time had come that the Pakistani exhibitors should not miss a single opportunity in participating in exhibition in China to give exposure to Chinese consumers.
He said that we were exporting surgical instruments in large quantity to many countries including Europe and there was great scope available of these items in China as well. Likewise, he said that fresh fruits particularly Kinoo, orange, mango, apple, banana, etc could also be exported to China.
He said that he also had a successful meeting with Vice-Chairman of Chamber of International Commerce Shanghai, Chen Jian Hua in which he assured that the Chinese government was determined to take measures to narrow the trade gape with Pakistan.
Addressing as key note speaker at the inaugural session of the second China New Energy International Summit Forum, in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province Tariq Sayeed said that he invited Chinese investors to explore the prospects of renewable energy available in Pakistan.
Tariq Sayeed said that on his return to Pakistan, he would exchange views with the Pakistani traders so that they could visit China to find out market for export of products.
