Pakistan Muslim League-Q Punjab President and former chief minister Pervaiz Elahi has accused Benazir Bhutto of devising an election rigging plan based on the same pattern as rigging files prepared by her father, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
He told a meeting, where the Cheena Group from Sheikhupura announced to join the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) here on Friday, that Benazir who fled from Larkana, because of fear of defeat, was now dreaming of making Okara another Larkana in Punjab already a stronghold of the Pakistan Muslim League. He said Nawaz Sharif proved his political naivety by supporting her, but all Muslim League voters would demonstrate sanity by voting for his party.
He said elections were never won by estimates. "They are won by serving the masses as done by the PML-Q in the past five years," he said. He also said Benazir should never forget that authentic survey reports which declared her tenure the most corrupt in the history. "People have come to know who have actually served them and made promises," he added.
The Cheena Group led by Chaudry Riasat Ali Cheena, Chaudry Muhammad Ashiq Cheena, Chaudry Omer Hayat Cheena, Chaudry Mehmood Ahmed Cheena and Chaudry Shahbaz Ahmed Cheena had announced to join the PML and expressed their full confidence in the Chaudries' leadership.
Elahi claimed that his party would be further strengthened in Sheikhupura. The group told the PML leader that they would fully support his candidates in all constituencies in the district. In another development, Pakistan Awami Tehrik senior Vice President Muhammad Sharif Chaudhry, who is an independent candidate from NA-112 (Sialkot), has announced to withdraw in favour of PML President Shujaat Hussain.
