Caretaker Sindh Minister for Home Brigadier Akhtar Zamin (Retd) has urged all political parties to cooperate with the government in maintaining law and order situation during the proceedings of forthcoming general elections. He assured that the government would provide full security to the contestants during their election campaigns.
The minister was presiding over a meeting of notables of the district and officials of district administration Matiari at Zila Nazim Secretariat. He said the Election Commission (EC) has issued clear guidelines and code of conduct covering every aspect of electioneering process, adding that now it was responsibility of each individual and organisation to follow code of conduct and guidelines.
He directed the DCO and DPO Matiari to keep close liaison with the political parties and contesting candidates and ensure implementation of the code of conduct.
He asked district police to be more vigilant during the electioneering especially at the sensitive polling stations and ensure that there should be no untoward incident.
He also directed to ensure safe transportation of electoral material and polling staff and also to provide all basic facilities including food and drinking water for polling staff at each polling station. Responding to a demand the minister assured that funds for acquiring vehicles for election duty would be provided to the administration concerned.
