Abdul Hadi Khan, Chairman, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Distribution Association has said that LPG producers were minimising the LPG production upto 200 tonnes to 300 tonnes per day and fixed its production upto 1500 tonnes to 1550 tonnes per day.
However, LPG production should enhance in winter because its consumption has increased in cold weather. He said that due to imbalance demand and supply, marketing companies have hoarded LPG, aimed to increase its prices and earn more profit, hence LPG was being supplied in a limited way to distributors, which creates immense problems in facilitating to valued customers.
Hadi requested to Prime Minister, Muhammadmian Soomro to establish inquiry committee who physically checks the hoarder godowns to reveal the actual figure of LPG production.
He said that due to rapid increase in black-marketing in LPG production by its producers caused to create hurdles in expansion of its business. He said that government should subsidise on the import of LPG likewise cement and gasoline import, which would help to eliminate the LPG producer's monopoly and hoped that LPG producer's cartel would only break, if LPG import would subsidise.
He apprised that producers has skyrocketed the sale price of LPG during last five years which was about Rs 1781 per commercial cylinder and Rs 38 per kilogram.-PR
