The World Punjabi Congress (WPC) is organising three international conferences on 'peace and democracy: challenges of extremists and fundamentalists.' A congress spokesman said on Saturday that the conferences would be held on December 20, January 3 and 8.
Congress Chairman Fakhar Zaman, currently in Europe has delivered lectures in various universities, will chair these conferences. The spokesman also said Austria chapter President Akram Butt, Dr Fatima Hussain would be chief guest at the Vienna conference.
Swedish chapter President Riaz Cheema has said renowned Swedish poet Peter Curman will be the chief guest at the Copenhagen conference. The World Punjabi Congress is holding the 20th International Conference on "sufism" in the first week of March, 2008 where 150 delegates from 10 different countries will participate in the Lahore conference.
