28 candidates vying to contest five National Assembly seats in Sialkot district
As many as 29 candidates have withdrawn their nomination papers on the last date of withdrawal of papers while 28 candidates were now contesting for five National Assembly seats in Sialkot districts.
It may be mentioned that 73 candidates for five National Assembly seats of Sialkot district filed nomination papers and after withdrawal 29 candidates are in the election bout in the district.
Similarly, 78 candidates out of total 187 have withdrawn their papers and after the withdrawal 81 candidates are contesting on eleven Punjab Assembly seats in Sialkot district.
In NA-110 four candidates are contesting the polls after the withdrawal of six nomination papers, in NA-111 four candidates are in the bout after the withdrawal of four nomination papers, six candidates are contesting in NA-112 after withdrawal of eight nomination papers, in NA-113 as many as nine candidates are contesting the election after the withdrawal of 2 nomination papers and in NA-114 five candidates would contest the election after withdrawal 8 nomination papers by the candidates.
Meanwhile, the election activities in Sialkot, Daska, Pasrur and Sambrial tehsils have gained the momentum. Candidates belonging to various political parties contesting on national and provincial assembly seats have started door-to-door canvassing and are holding corner meetings.
It may be pointed out that President PML-Q Choudhary Shujaat Hussain will contest from NA-112 Sialkot. It is expected that upcoming general election would be interested because some prominent political figures and traditional rivals like the Speaker National Assembly Choudhary Amir Hussain and Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan would face each other in NA-111 Sialkot launched their election campaign in their respective constituency in Sialkot district.
The supporters and party workers were busy in displaying huge banners and posters bearing the photographs of the candidates on prominent places of Sialkot.
