An eight-member delegation of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) has recently visited various medical colleges and hospitals of Kathmandu, Nepal regarding the standard of teaching, training and accreditation.
The delegation members from different institutions of Pakistan including, the Regional Director, College of Physicians & Surgeons Lahore, Pakistan (CPSP), Professor Khalid Masood Gondal, Head of Peads. Department, SIMS, Professor Qazi M. Yaqoob, Principal, Dental College, Lahore, Professor Nazia Yazdani, , Councillor and Controller of Examinations, CPSP Islamabad, Professor Shoaib Shafi, Registrar, CPSP, Professor Abdul Majid, Professor of Plastic Surgery, KMDC, Karachi, Professor Najeeb Ansari, Professor of Gynae, JPMC ,Shireen Zulfiqar Bhutta, , &, Professor of Anesthesia, NMC, Multan, Professor Salman Waris.
The delegates inspected Khatmando Medical College, Peoples Dental College, Kathmandu Model Hospital, OM. Hospital & Research Centre in the light of standard criteria set by the CPSP. The recommendations of the delegates will be sent to Professor Zafar Ullah Chaudhry and the Council of the CPSP for approval.
Gondal during his briefing mentioned that that the CPSP has attained an international recognition because of its structured training, effective monitoring and transparent and unbiased examination system. He said that its Headquarter is in Karachi and thirteen regional centres are in Pakistan and overseas centres in Kathmandu and other countries are working to consolidate the standard training, monitoring, evaluation and provision of research facilities to medical graduates in the country and abroad as well.
The Principal, Kathmandu Medical College, Professor Dr Dixit, acknowledged the international services rendered by the CPSP in the field of medical education and research. He highlighted the contribution of different departments of his institution. The Regional Director, CPSP Kathmandu Centre, Dr Dharma K Baskota, during his briefing to the delegates mentioned that the CPSP fellows in Nepal are imparting high standard training to the local graduates because of the exemplary training & monitoring and international recognition of fellowship degree of the CPSP. The regional centre of the CPSP in Kathmandu, Nepal was established in 1998 and is providing training, and research facilities.-PR
