Polling staff and police personnel deputed for polling duty can send applications for getting ballot papers from their respective returning officers by December 27 for exercising the right of franchise during the coming general election to be held on January 08, 2008 across the country.
Election Commission of Pakistan sources told APP here on Monday that government servants, members of the armed forces, holders of public office, their wives and children who are eligible voters and are residing with them have the option to have themselves enrolled at the place of their posting or in their home towns.
The elector, who is entitled to cast his vote by postal ballot will apply for a postal ballot to the returning officer of his constituency and Chief Election Commissioner has fixed December 18 as the last date for sending applications for postal ballot, however, polling staff and police personnel deputed for polling duty can send applications for getting postal ballot papers from their respective returning officers by December 27.
