South Korea has bought 6,000 tonnes of primary aluminium ingot and 200 tonnes of nickel cathode, an official at the state-run Public Procurement Service (PPS) said on Monday. BHP Billiton Marketing AG will supply 4,000 tonnes of Western ingot at a premium of $75 per tonne over London Metal Exchange cash prices by March 31.
LG International, a South Korean trading house, agreed to deliver 2,000 tonnes of non-Western ingot at a premium of $58 by February 28. Separately, the agency bought 200 tonnes of nickel cathode from Swiss-based metal trading house Glencore at a premium of $483 a tonne over LME cash. The government agency is also seeking another 6,000 tonnes of primary aluminium ingot, the official added. The tender would close at 2 pm (0500 GMT) on Thursday.
