The Haj sermon of the Mufti Azam Al-Shaikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah at Arafat is true refection of sentiments of the Muslim Ummah, Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Nisar A. Memon said on Tuesday.
In a statement issued here, the minister said Mufti Azam Al-Shaikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah had made it clear that terrorism and suicidal attacks conducted in the name of Islam did not serve the cause of Islam. Such acts lead only to defaming the sacred name of Islam.
He said Mufti Azam had rightly said that Muslims with unity and strength of their faith were capable of meeting any challenge in the world. He said, "Islam is the religion of peace and the Muslim Ummah can attain progress in every field by following the teachings of Islam." He said Muslim Ummah particularly the people of Pakistan should promote harmony and peace by truly discharging their obligations as the devout followers of their faith.
He urged the people to help the government maintain law and order in the country, and said the government had smashed the network of terrorists and it was making all efforts to boost democratic institutions. He appealed to the people to fully co-operate with the government in its efforts to defeat anti- state elements. The minister said the environment for the forthcoming elections was excellent and the people would not let anybody disturb it.
