Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, Senior Vice President of PML-N led a rally from Samijabad (Multan) to Makhdoom Rashid on Sunday in connection with his election campaign in the constituency NA-148 which was joined by thousands of people.
Addressing the participants of the rally here Javed Hashmi said that present regime wanted to keep him (Hashmi) out of the parliament after rejection of candidatures of Mian Nawaz Sharif and Mian Shahbaz Sharif and it had planned to manipulate the elections but we have made pre-cautionary measures to resist the massive rigging bid.
He said that he was contesting polls from five constituencies to foil the nefarious designs of the rulers. Javed Hashmi anticipated that the 'political funeral' of Q-League would be held soon.
"January 8 elections will prove the day of Lion and will eat all jackals," he said Hashmi further said that the rulers had started pre-poll rigging for the victory of Q League. " General Musharraf is holding public meetings of Q-League while public exchequer is being badly spent on election campaign but perhaps the Chief Election Commissioner is incapable of seeing this all," he criticised. He said the Q-League was an offspring of rigging and, therefore, they are afraid of election. "It is misfortune that 16 generals are ruling the country instead of 160 million people," he regretted.
He urged upon the nation to be courageous and throw away the group of generals from politics. He said the PML (N) would provide jobs to the youth, re-start yellow cab scheme, construct new motorways and issue interest-free loans to the youngsters after coming into power.
He said that the fate of the country would be decided on January 8. "Therefore, I request the nation not to boycott the election and carry out accountability of those who committed ambush on judiciary, constitution and parliament," he urged upon the public. He said the government was supporting boycott decision to distribute the vote of opposition. He said he himself was not in favour of participating in elections. "But individual boycott will prove a futile effort. I personally visited Ms Bhutto but we could not evolve consensus on this issue," he added.
He said Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was still chief justice of Pakistan. "We'll reinstate all judges after coming into power and launch legal action against rulers for abrogating the constitution, deposing judges and distorting national image," he added. He said it would not be less than a revolution, if the PML-N succeeded to restore the judiciary.
He said the PML-N wanted to end that role of army in politics due to which the country was disintegrated, one elected prime minister was hanged and another exiled. He said Musharraf committed ambush on judiciary for the security of his personality and destroyed all national institutions. He said the country was given in American slavery.
He drew the attention of the public towards skyrocketing prices of the commodities and presented a comparison. "In our time bread was sold at the rate of Re 1 per loaf while now it is Rs 4 per loaf. In our time atta was available at Rs 7 per kg while now it is Rs 20 per kg. Same is the situation with ghee, electricity and other things," he added.
He warned the people not to vote for Q League. "If you voted for them the bread will be sold at Rs 10 per loaf and atta at Rs 50 per kg."
Remembering his achievements, he said that his government answered five Indian atomic blasts with six ones and resultantly Indians stopped threatening Pakistan and came to equal level. "Even Vajpaee boarded a bus and came to Lahore where he announced that he recognised Pakistan while on the other hand commando general is bringing shame to the country through by bowing down before India," he added.
Hashmi said Pakistan needed a revolution for its survival and he has became a revolutionary by heart after what has happened to him after 1999. He said voters of the PML-Q in coming polls would be enemy of country and the nation.
He said in past eight years country's sovereignty was put at stake by Musharraf and he was followed directions of President Bush instead of our constitution and law of land. He said he was put behind the bars for 14 months and was forced out of country for seven years but he refused to bow before unconstitutional forces.
He said the masses must ask from the PML Q candidates that are they representing those who committed bloodshed on May 12, killed innocent girls in Lal Masjid and detained Supreme Court judges including CJP Iftikhar Chaudhry.
He said reinstatement of judges was top priority and we would work for betterment of masses like past. "Our agenda is national not international and we wouldn't take dictation from anyone," he said. He said Quaid-e-Azam created Pakistan not for army rule but for political rule. He said in past eight years rulers have not given people anything except illiteracy, joblessness and price hike. He urged upon the masses to support PML N for a positive change.
