The City District Government Karachi (CDGK) in coordination with towns and union councils disposed of more than 1,000,000 offal of sacrificial animals during the first two days of Eid-ul-Azha.
A statement issued on Sunday said Saddar Town led the number of sacrificial animals where on first day 87,000 animals and 94,000 animals on the second day were sacrificed while a minimum number of 6,500 animals each were sacrificed in Gadap and Site towns besides 5,700 on second day in Korangi.
A total number of 1,000 complaints were received in first two days of Eid at the Citizens Complaint Centre established at the office of Nazim Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal on which swift action was taken and the offal were lifted within 15 to 20 minutes of reporting. Nazim Karachi said 1,200 vehicles including 800 trucks and 400 small vehicles were being used for the disposal of offal while more than 11,000 workers were deputed on this duty who have been working day and night to keep the city clean during Eid-ul-Azha.
He said this while talking to media representatives during a prolong visit to city during which he inspected arrangements for disposal of offal in all 18 towns including congested areas of the city.
He said this year an estimated 1.2 million sacrificial animals were brought in Karachi and the civic agencies have done tremendous job of disposal of offals and other waste on immediate basis.
He also congratulated DCO Karachi, EDO Municipal Services, all town nazims, union nazims and their team for excellent work while he also thanked citizens of Karachi for their full support in the entire process.
