President of Supreme Court Bar Association Aitzaz Ahsan and deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry were prevented from offering Eid-ul-Azha prayers. Talking to private TV channel on Friday, Aitzaz Ahsan said the police forcibly stopped him and his son to offer Eid prayers.
He said that he wanted to inform the masses and media about the government restrictions and curbs on media and judiciary but he was prevented even to offer Eid prayers.
Aitzaz Ahsan vowed to continue the struggle for the rule of law, independence of judiciary and urged the masses to boycott of the forthcoming polls. On this occasion, Aitzaz Ahsan's son also complained about maltreatment by police, adding that the police officer threatened to open fire on him when he was trying to protect his father from police violence.
Aitzaz Ahsan, Ali Ahmad Kurd and justice (retd) Tariq Mohmood were released for three days to celebrate Eid. The ousted Chief Justice was also not allowed to come out of his residence to offer Eid prayers at the Judges Colony.
A large number of lawyers, activists of civil society and political leaders including former MNA Mian Muhammad Aslam were prevented to enter into Judges Colony to express solidarity with deposed judges including Justice Chaudhry.
