A mob ransacked and then torched the office of a Muttahida Qaumi Movement in Peshawaron Friday, as anger boiled over after the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. About 1,500 people paraded in the streets and then stormed the offices of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement that backs President Pervez Musharraf, an AFP reporter said.
The crowd - many chanting "Benazir is alive!" - set the office ablaze and also pelted a cinema with stones, the reporter said. He said police were keeping a low profile in the face of the protest, with the nation at boiling point after Thursday's gun and suicide attack.
