Fire brigade department is facing problem in reaching the fire-affected sites due to alleged attacks on fire tenders by miscreants in the city. An official of fire brigade department told APP that miscreants attack fire tenders when they reach a spot to control blaze.
We need protection from law enforcing agencies to reach the affected sites, he added. He said the fire brigade could not reach Lakson Tobacco factory and a CNG filling station in Korangi Industrial area late Friday due to security problems.
The official said the fire tenders were sent couple of times to this site but they returned due to violence in the area. Security protection was available Saturday morning and fire tenders had reached the two sites and are still busy to control fire, he said.
Similarly, we had received a call from Indus Jute Mills near Gakhar Phatak that miscreants have set the mill on fire. But we are still unable to despatch fire tenders to the affected site due to security problem. We are waiting for law enforcing agencies to provide us protection, he added.
He said that fire tenders have controlled a fire in the bushes behind NTC building in Saddar area after a struggle of one hour. Miscreants had torched bushes near NTC building adjacent to army area, he added. He said fire tenders have been rushed to Northern Bypass near Baldia to control a fire in a trailer which was torched by miscreants at about 4 pm.
