Following Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto's assassination, Caretaker Minister for Communication Barrister Habibur Rehman Sunday urged all political parties to forge unity among their ranks, keeping national interests supreme.
Talking to PTV, the Minister invited all political parties for devising a joint strategy to confront the present situation in the country, saying "let us sit together, sit across the table and think for the national cause."
Barrister Habib-ur-Rehman expressed his deep sense of grief and sorrow over the killing of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto in a suicide attack in Rawalpindi on December 27 (Thursday).
Her (Benazir) sacrifice would not go waste and definitely serve the cause for which she has been struggling, the Barrister said adding Bhutto family rendered unmatched sacrifices for the national cause.
He recalled various aspects of leadership qualities of late Benazir Bhutto and her resolve to make the country a progressive and developed state. The Minister stressed the need to promote culture of tolerance, harmony and tranquillity in the society.
He suggested to hold a round table conference in collaboration with political parties to decide future course of action on various issues being faced by the nation.
Habibur Rehman said in his personal opinion he was against to postpone the upcoming elections as it would strengthen the hands of enemy. "As an individual, I will differ to postpone the elections as it will strengthen the hands of enemy, let the democracy return," he added.
The caretaker government had a task to ensure holding of free, fair and impartial elections, providing level playing field to all political parties, the Minister observed.
