The most commodities, including the essentials registered substantial sharp jump on the wholesale markets, when they opened after long Eidul Azha holidays and the and Quaid's birth anniversary holiday.
The commodities fluctuated widely exposing the consumers who had exhausted essentials during the closures. Among the risers were gram garda Punjab, gram dal yellow peas, beetle chana, 50x50, bajra, guwar, makai, Irri white broken, rapeseed and rapeseed cakes.
The opening day showed the following changes: gram garda Punjab rose sharply by Rs 125 to 2800/2925, gram garda dal Punjab rose by Rs 200 to Rs 3400 while the other was quoted at Rs 3500, yellow peas Canada gained Rs 15 to Rs 2650 while the other type was quoted at Rs 2775, yellow peas dal from Canada rose by Rs 150 to Rs 2950 while the other was quoted at Rs 3050, beetle Chana I rose by Rs 125 to Rs 3025 while the other was quoted at Rs 3150, beetle 50x50 rose by Rs 175 to Rs 2900 and the other was quoted at Rs 3025, dal beetle low type was up Rs 10 to Rs 3300 while the better type rose by Rs 50 to Rs 3400, bajra inferior rose by Rs 50 to Rs 1450 while the other rose by Rs 175 to Rs 1950, guwar Punjab low type was up Rs 50 to Rs 1250, better type rose sharply by Rs 400 to Rs 1800, Makai low type gained Rs 50 to Rs 1500 while other type was higher by Rs 8 to Rs 1508, Irri white broken rose by Rs 10 to Rs 1590 while the other was quoted at Rs 1600, rapeseeds Nawabshah low type was up Rs 25 to Rs 1575, better type rose by Rs 100 to Rs 1600, rapeseed cakes low type rose by Rs 5 to Rs 535 while the better type was put at previous level.
On Jodia Bazar plastic mouldings (per lb) HDPE blow Iran rose by Re 1 to Rs 57, LDPE 374 closed lower by Rs 1 to Rs 64, polypropylene tape grade India rose by 75 paisa to Rs 58, and Saudia up Rs 1 to Rs 58, polypropylene injection grade Saudia ended up 75 paisa to Rs 57.50, India rose by 75 paisa to Rs 57.50, Kuwait closed by 75 paisa to Rs 57.50, polystyrene BASF quoted at Rs 3,300, and Pak quoted at Rs 3237.
