Normalcy has started returning to various parts of the provincial capital on the third day of mourning of the tragic assassination of Ms Benazir Bhutto, with the opening of petroleum and CNG stations, shops and medical stores, under the supervision of City District Government Lahore (CDGL).
A number of Petroleum/CNG stations started providing fuel to vehicles on Sunday following the announcement of Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association chief that all filling stations would restart operations from Sunday evening after the soyem of Ms Bhutto.
Life was also normal in eight Sunday bazaars organised by the CDGL in various localities of the city. According to District Co-ordination Officer (DCO) Mian Mohammad Ejaz, as many as 50,000 flour bags were sold in these Sunday bazaars.
The DCO, along with other CDGL officials, also visited various Sunday bazaars in Gulshan-e-Ravi, Wahdat Colony ground, Shadman, Tajpura, Model Town, Shalimar Town, Green Town and Johar Town. The DCO also inspected the selling points established for sale of flour and directed the officials concerned to ensure smooth supply of eatables and other essential items to the people.
According to a handout issued by the CDGL, the DCO also supervised the sale of atta at certain points and monitored the process of re-opening of medical stores, shops and petroleum stations in some areas of the city.
