The Organising Committee of the 11th International Symposium on Natural Product Chemistry (ISNP), planned to be held in Karachi, has extended the date of the symposium due to the approaching elections - 2008.
A statement on Tuesday said the symposium, which was one of the most prestigious international events in the field of natural product sciences, now would be held from March 7 to 10. Earlier, this symposium was to be held from January 3 to 6, said an announcement made by International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), Karachi University.
General Secretary of the Organising Committee and ICCBS Acting Director Professor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Chaudhry said the decision was taken because of the approaching elections. He stated that over 600 eminent scientists and researchers from 45 countries were expected to participate in this symposium.
"We hope the dynamic spirit of the mega city of Karachi will provide the most conducive milieu, in which stimulating scientific exchange amongst natural product scientists from all over the world can take part. We also hope that through this meeting, stronger research ties between the scientists of different regions can be fostered."
"The aim of the symposium is to bring together leading experts in the field of natural products sciences from all around the world and forge global partnerships for sustainable utilisation of natural resources for the common benefit of humanity and rapid development of the countries in the south," Dr Iqbal further remarked.
