A hardened criminal and proclaimed offender involved in a number of police encounter cases, murder and dacoity was killed in an encounter with the CIA Police, Ravi Town in the wee hours of Wednesday. According to the police sources, the criminal was responsible for martyring the SP, Narowal Tayyab Saeed during an encounter in 2004.
The CIA Police, Ravi Town on a tip off that proclaimed offender Shafaqat alias Bhaio had scheduled to visit one of his close accomplice in Shahdara Town, set up a special picket in the area. The police team signalled suspicious motorcycle riders coming from Jaspat Ghatti Shahdara to stop. But the riders opened fire at police and tried to fox away hiding in a nearby nursery kept firing.
