Pakistan Muslim League-Q Punjab President and former chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Wednesday claimed that his party would sweep the general elections and that was the reason its opponents foreseeing their defeat were levelling false allegations.
Addressing a news conference here, Elahi said that his party is restarting its election campaign with new vigour and approach in a bid to safeguard the country and ensure its prosperity as well as integrity and solidarity so as to protect the future of coming generations.
Criticising Asif Ali Zardari, he questioned that what would be the fate of the country, if Zardari would be able to rule the country. On the occasion, copy of a report published in a foreign newspaper about Asif Zardari was also distributed among the newsmen.
Elahi said that PML was the founding party of the country and now it would be made a party that would secure future of the country. He urged the countrymen to fully participate in the elections and support the PML-Q to save the country from looters.
He said that after Liaquatbagh incident the residences of Muslim Leaguers were targeted while election offices of his party candidates were also burnt apart from setting ablaze party banners and posters. He alleged that PML-Q candidates' property; houses and vehicles were targeted during the violence at the behest of Asif Ali Zardari and Shahbaz Sharif.
He accused PML-N President of supervising the violent activities in Punjab. "We have proofs about the involvement of Shahbaz Sharif in this regard," he added. He further said that Sharifs have become B-team of Pakistan People's Party and were equally responsible for this national crime by uniting with Asif Zardari who was what he said known as "Mr ten percent".
He said those who left the country in the darkness of night after leaving their party workers by signing mercy plea are not sincere with nation. Elahi said that PML ticket holders have been asked to accelerate their election campaign with new zeal. He added that PML-Q was ready to contest elections on January 8 but expressed apprehensions over the law and order situation in the country.
He said PML-Q government carried out development activities in every sector including education, health, agriculture and infrastructure bringing about revolutionary changes in lives of people. He claimed that his party would make clean sweep in the next elections throughout the country on the basis of its performance and development activities. He further said that a committee has been formed to probe the loss suffered by during recent riots in Sindh province.
PML-Q leader Kamil Ali Agha said on the occasion that PML-Q would welcome any international commission for enquiry into the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. He demanded Zardari to present the will of Benazir before media to verify the signature of Benazir Bhutto. PML-Q office bearers Chaudhry Zaheer ud Din Khan, Raja Basharat and Arshad Lodhi were also present on the occasion.
