The Deputy Inspector General Police, Operations, Hyderabad Range, Commander Shaukat Ali Shah (Retd) has claimed that out of Rs 92 millions valuables, which looted by the armed persons during violence after tragic incident of December, 27, the looted booty worth Rs 12.5 million has been handed over to affected people of Hyderabad Range.
He was addressing a ceremony organised in connection with handing over the looted valuables to affected persons/owners here at Police Headquarters on Thursday.
Among others, Brigadier Aminullah Khan, Brigadier Khushnud of Pakistan Army, Colonel Laeeq Afzal of Pakistan Rangers Sindh, District Co-ordination Officer Hyderabad Aftab Ahmed Khatri and District Police Officers Imran Shaukat were also present on the occasion.
The DIG Operation said that after assassination of PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto many miscreants have started looting the valuables of the people under the cover of protest however, after deployment of Pakistan Army on December 28, the law and order situation has been brought under control very shortly.
Besides maintaining law and order, he said that Pakistan Army along with Rangers and Police has started the drive of recovery of valuables of the victims and succeeded in recovering looted booty of 92 millions, of which, the snatched valuables of Rs 12.25 million have been returned to affected people.
He informed that Army, Rangers and Police are making round the clock efforts to recover all looted valuables and in this connection, announcement are also being made from loudspeakers of Masjid that snatchers should surrender the looted booty voluntarily otherwise face action. The DIG Hyderabad Range informed that around five hundred persons have so far been booked in 239 cases registered by the Police.
The affected people, who got back their snatched valuables highly praised the efforts of the Army, Rangers and the Police for taking prompt action against the culprits and recovering the looted property.
