Former Punjab governor Malik Ghulam Mustafa Khar said no one is left in PPP to follow the lines of Bhuttoism and prayed for PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari for his success, saying it is because the failure of both the father and the son to bring political disaster in the party.
"Shaheed Benazir Bhutto was the last ray of hope for downtrodden classes but people's hope again murdered, may God give courage and wisdom to PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutho Zardari to follow lines", he said.
Talking to this scribe here on Thursday, Khar was the only leader remained in PPP who predicted suicide attack on Shaheed Benazir Bhutto in Punjab but some leaders developed differences with him on election boycott and he was detached from the party.
To a question, Khar differed from his differences with BB, he said some fair weather friends and opportunists developed misunderstandings between him and BB on minor issues.
"I am still committed to Bhutto's philosophy and his set principles for politics because I believe this is the only solution for social change. I want to revive party's 1970s role, I have no ambitions, no power lust but a little wish to die when PPP spread at every nook and corner in Punjab", he said.
While acknowledging and supporting the services of Aitizaz Ehsan and Raza Rabbani, Khar said that their names were to include in the political will of Shaheed BB's will deed due to their credibility but they were flatly ignored.
Khar said that if both the father and the son fail to deliver it would be political disaster to the party and the country due to lack of keeping option save for future. Quoting his rule in Punjab when police were on strike and Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto asked Khar for reaching Lahore to resolve the tension and strike, but Khar refused saying he would alone resolve the crisis.
"Why Mr Khar you avoiding me in resolution of crisis, do you not wish playing my role in the matter? No sir, in fact, I want to resolve the matter alone because if I fail then you will be the option. If we both fail so there would be political disaster leaving no option in resolving the crisis."
The political figures were responsible for creating gulf between Khar and Benazir Bhutto has been dominating the PPP may not allow Khar to intact with party, but he said that PPP founder Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto inducted him in the party and newly born can remove or snatch his title.
The PPP has announced 40 days mourning but on the other side leadership announced taking part in the next general elections by ignoring real political issues. He said that Zardari should avoid fair weather friends and avoid taking part such elections under Pervez Musharraf's arrangements because it would be a futile exercise.
Referring his visit to Naudero, he said there were ashes of burnt articles on roads from Kashmor to Sindh, long-queues of vehicles hoisting PPP flags were moving on roads when he contacted Zardari's secretary on phone to inquire about Qul. There was long lines of vehicles at Naudero and lamentation at every house, he said. There was no space to enter the house due to cluster of crowed when Asif Ali Zardari offered special prayer for the departed soul.
Later, Zardari asked his counsel Babar Awan for prayer and he had done the job in speech style, later Zardari went back to inner house and Khar was also brought to the house where Makhdoom Shah Mahmamood Qureshi, Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, Begum Abida Hussein and her husband Syed Fakhar Imam was present under the tent.
"Zardari looks in very composed and controlled condition, even he stopped Begum Abida Hussein on continuously weeping saying BB don't weep because we can bear the shock", said Khar. The PPP workers were shouting with, "Khar sb return back to party", "Party needs you", "You speak truth about risk of life to BB" on his departure from Naudero.
