Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) is actively considering to introduce its micro credit scheme in Sialkot shortly, revealed newly elected president Dr Khurram Anwar Khawaja.
Talking to Business Recorder here on Thursday he added that the step was being taken for reducing the unemployment graph as well as to enable people to start their small-scale business in this export-oriented city and nucleus of cottage industry of the country.
The business community, he said, was playing a pivotal role in the face lifting of Sialkot and under Sialkot City Package, which was initiated by SCCI in collaboration with other trade bodies' main arteries of the city have been completed while work on remaining roads is in progress.
The economic growth of Sialkot was moving in right direction despite of this the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry was also deeming to further accelerate the pace of trade commerce activities aimed at enhancing export volume of the city, Dr Khurram said.
Sialkot International Airport has started to function and passenger flights are operational and it would play an instrumental role in speeding up the export activities, which would be much supportive in bringing boom in the export-volume he said. We are making adequate efforts and perusing Sialkot Airport Authority to take immediate step for introducing inexpensive cargo service to facilitate SMEs besides international flights from Sialkot to facilitate local business community, he said.
The president SCCI further pointed out that load shedding of electricity and low pressure of Sui gas was hitting adversely the industrial sector as a result of which the export activities are at lowest ebb and will affect the export target. He called upon the Gepco and Sui Gas authorities that schedule of the load shedding should be formulated with consultation of trade bodies of Sialkot.
