The District Co-ordination Officer Hyderabad Aftab Ahmed Khatri has constituted Taluka-wise committees headed by D.D.O. Revenue concerned for conducting survey of losses/damages caused to private and public properties either immovable or moveable during recent violence since December 27, 2007 and assigned the committees to complete their reports within three days.
This he said while presiding over meeting regarding reviewing over the situation about recovering and assessment of losses of properties at his camp office on Thursday. EDO Revenue Syed Barkat Ahmed Rizvi, D.O (R) Syed Sajjad Haider and all the D.D.Os and Mukhtiarkars of the district attended the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, the D.C.O. Hyderabad said that the Revenue officers have to play their due role not only to meet their administrative challenges but to provide considerable relief to the victims of violence. He said that priority be given to the restoration of displaced people. He said that though the maintenance of law and order situation was the job of police force but they must be co-operated in this task.
Later talking to official media, the D.C.O. Hyderabad Aftab Ahmed Khatri said that alternate accommodation to various groups of offices whose offices and record were burned in the violence has been made by District Government Hyderabad to ensure smooth transaction of the government work. He said that in order to avoid such type of destruction in future, adequate deployment of force at vital installations has been made. He said that cleanliness drives has almost been completed by removing burn items/debris and vehicles from Super Highway, Hyderabad Bypass, various corners, roads and streets of the district to ensure smooth traffic.
He said that keeping in view the shortage of essential commodities, the district government Hyderabad arranged eight government vehicles to distribute Atta and other utility items in various parts of Taluka City, Latifabad and Qasimabad on factory rates from December 29, 2007 to January 2, 2008. Besides, food was provided to 5000 marooned people whose express trains or other vehicles were burnt by mob, he added.
He said that in addition to concentrating on law and order situation, the task force constituted by District Government Hyderabad evacuated peoples from Super Highway, Railway Stations, bus stands and other places and also provided them alternate transportation facilities with police escort. He said that due to the efforts, all petrol pumps in the district were got functional since December 30, 2007 and an operation was being made against actual culprits to recover the looted material.
