DCO Major Azam Suleman Khan (Retd) has directed the officers of departments concerned to implement the Muharram plan in accordance with its spirit and discharge their assignments in this regard with full devotion, dedication and commitment so as to ensure prevalence of a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere during Muharram.
This direction was issued by him, here, during a meeting for review and co-ordination of Muharram arrangements held in his office which was attended by the DDOs, TMOs of the District and officers of Police, Revenue, Health, Wasa, Fesco, TMAs, Municipal Services, PTCL, Sui gas, Civil Defence, Special Branch and other concerned departments.
It was decided that officers concerned would take a joint round of the Muharram procession routs in the city on Monday to take stock of the issues and ensure removal of all irritants for facilitating smooth passage of Muharram processions.
The DCO said that a Crises Management Cell/District Control Room would be set up in his office during Muharram to monitor the events throughout the district and reacting promptly to the situation as and when required.

The DCO asked Fesco to ensure that load shedding should be avoided at the Majalis venue and along procession routs.

He directed the Wasa officers to ensure that all manholes along Moharram procession routs were covered, and asked the DO Roads to complete the patch work along the route and directed the TMOs to make the street lights along procession routs within their jurisdiction operational.
He directed the DSP Traffic to make alternative traffic plan for procession days along its routs and publicise it through media for the information of the general public. He also asked the medical superintendents of allied and DHQ hospitals to reserve beds in Emergency and prepare list of blood donors to meet challenges posed by some untoward incidents.
