Rawalpindi Police on Saturday foiled a heinous plan of a cruel father who was to sell his infant child to a French couple, though the culprit managed to escape. Saheli, an Afghan woman gave birth to a baby boy at Rawalpindi General Hospital (RGH) four days ago.
Her husband, Muhammad Rasool, took the baby away from her and tried to sell out his infant to a French couple for Rs 10,000. Saheli, had already informed the hospital authorities about the intentions of her husband and hospital administration called the police. When police approached him the accused had managed to escape from the scene. The police let the French couple go without any investigation.
City Police Officer, Saud Aziz directed officials to take effective security measures at all government and private hospitals to curb the sharp rising crimes of infant kidnapping. He said that efforts were being made to trace the baby kidnapped from Holy Family Hospital on Thursday.
