District Administration has evolved a comprehensive security plan for handling law and order situation for the upcoming Muharram in Sialkot district. District Nazim Sialkot Muhammad Akmal Cheema expressed his views while presiding over a district peace committee meeting held here on Saturday.
Maintaining peace in the Sialkot, Daska, Pasrur and Sambrial a prime responsibility of the district government, which would be fulfilled at any cost. He was of the opinion that Sialkot is not only the hub of cottage industry of the country but also nucleus of brotherhood, peace and unity and people belonging all sects would demonstrate the spirit of unity in the district, he was of the opinion.
He called upon the people to have solidarity among the ranks and make collective efforts to foil evil designs of terrorism made by extremists. He urged the participants to play their instrumental role in maintaining law and order situation during Muharram in the district.
Akmal Cheema, further, informed house that tehsil municipal administrations of Sialkot, Daska, Pasrur and Sambrial have already been directed to remove encroachments and ensure cleanliness from the routes of Muharram processions from their respective tehsil headquarters.
Speaking on the occasion District Co-ordination Officer Sialkot (DCO) Captain Atta Muhammad (Retd) said that upholding the law and order is top priority of the district administration. It is our fundamental and religious duty that we should demonstrate sectarian harmony and brotherhood during the month of Muharram in the district, he said.
He added that significant measures have been taken for checking the activities of anti-social elements and such elements would be dealt with iron hands. Addressing the meeting District Police Officer (DPO) Sialkot Muhammad Amin told the house that security arrangements have been finalised under which no body would be allowed to create law and order situation in the district.
On this occasion Ulema from various sects assured their full co-operation to the district administration. Earlier, the meeting condoled the death of martyred Benazir Bhutto and offered fateha.
