Chairman of District Price Control Committee (DPCC) Haji Mohammad Jamal has claimed that the atta crisis, which was created due to temporary closure of flour mills and load-shedding after the murder of Benazir Bhutto, would soon be overcome.
Talking to newsmen during his weekly visit to the Itwaar Bazaar he said 53 lac ton of wheat is still available in Punjab while the wheat quota for Punjab is further being increased. He said that the government has also raised the wheat delivery charges from fields to the purchasing centres.
The District Price Control Committee Chairman said that atta is being distributed among the commuters on fixed rates through mobile trucks, adding that the government has also set up a control room in the office of the District Coordination Officer (DCO).
He said that the sale of atta on control rate would be ensured at any cost. He said the areas, which are facing atta shortage, should contact the DCO office for mobile truck through their elected representatives and nazims.
